NativeDB for SQL Anywhere

NativeDB is a set of Borland VCL and Microsoft ActiveX database interface components that can be installed into your favorite development environment.  They have supported SQL Anywhere for over 10 years and have recently released an update to support Embarcadero Delphi XE 4/5 and C++Builder XE 4/5 support and SQL Anywhere 16.

Why do I mention this?  Well, though I have never met him in person, I have worked with a core NativeDB developer for over 10 years.  They have been committed to supporting SQL Anywhere interfaces since version 5 of the product (and perhaps before, but that is when I started working on SQL Anywhere), and they do an excellent job of taking advantage of the key strengths of SQL Anywhere in order to build a top-notch set of drivers to support it.

NativeDB alerts is also an excellent example of how you can enable proactive communication from the database server to clients in order to ensure you can build robust and high performing applications.

I would like to say thank-you to Harald and the NativeDB team for their continued support of SQL Anywhere.  They are an excellent example of the talented developer community that surrounds SQL Anywhere.

Obviously, the above opinions are my own, based on my experiences and interactions with NativeDB, and should not be taken as an official SAP endorsement of anything.
