Several months ago we started to publish a new kind of End-to-End development tutorials here in the Cross Technology Developer Center.

Developers can start from scratch and find here comprehensive step-by-step tutorials on how to implement cross-technology scenarios.

Rui wrote a great blog A tutorial to rule them all: the epic ESPM scenario tutorials which explains why it is worth to have these kinds of scenario tutorials and his video about the ESPM Scenario Tutorials is a fantastic Quick Guide and Intro into this topic.

ESPM Tutorials - Your Feedback

Since the first time we published End-to-End scenario tutorials in the Cross Technology Developer Center we got a lot of feedback from our customers, which means from YOU, who executed these tutorials.

Just to mention some of your feedback

  • Every tutorial starts with almost the same Installation steps. Could this be extracted to a separate and general installation guide?
  • How could I create my own web application project which has the basic structure and technologies (SAPUI5, OData connectivity, Maven, etc.) of the ESPM projects already included?
  • What is Enterprise Sales & Procurement Model (ESPM) and where can I look for it?

Based on your feedback we did a continuous processing of experience on several End-to-End tutorials and improved them.

As a result of this we publish today two updated and two new ESPM Scenario tutorials in the Cross Technology Developer Center, and we call this the Second Wave of ESPM Tutorials.

The ESPM Tutorials of the Second Wave

Short summary and links of the ESPM Tutorials which has been created or updated for the second wave:

1. New ESPM Installation Guide

See here http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-46868

This new tutorial is the general installation guide for any HANA Cloud Development and also describes how to get and run all ESPM Application sources.

The Guide is based on the newest released Eclipse IDE, which is Eclipse Kepler (4.3) SR1.

All new ESPM Scenarios reference now this Installation Guide.

2. Updated ESPM WebShop Extension Scenario

See here http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-41491

This tutorial is my personal favorite!

Developers who liked my Getting Started tutorial Building your first end-to-end SAP HANA Cloud "PersonsList" Web Application Scenario] (also initially published in HANA Cloud space here) and are now looking for something to continue with, should definitely walk through the ESPM WebShop Extension Scenario.

Beside many other highlights which we improved in this tutorial you could learn there how to create your own application frame project based on the existing ESPM project.

Also it is worth to mention the new Development Details sections which explain by example code key topics for your SAP HANA Cloud development like e.g. the usage of HANA Cloud Connectivity Proxy.

Please try out this exceptional new ESPM Extension tutorial which my colleague Stephen and I created for you

3. New ESPM Cloud Application Scenario

See here http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-46869

With this scenario you get for the first time a tutorial which explains how the Enterprise Sales & Procurement Model (ESPM) is built and how it is technically developed by means of HANA Cloud Persistence.

Another key feature of this tutorial is the new Retailer application, which demonstrates how you develop with SAPUI5 and OData connectivity a web application with a restricted user access.

4. Updated ESPM Mobile Shopping Scenario

See here http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-41430

The ESPM Mobile Shopping tutorial as one of the most viewed ESPM scenarios in Cross Technology Developer Center makes now use of the new ESPM Installation Guide and also switched its design theme and uses now the famous “Fiori” design.

Give use more Feedback

With these four new/updated tutorials we hope that you better understand the development details and concepts of the ESPM Reference scenarios and therefore benefit for your own SAP HANA Cloud web and mobile application development.

We are happy to get more feedback from you. Please let us know what you like or what should be improved and we try our best to react accordingly as quick as possible.

Thanks for that

Jens
