How to get your Sales Team to the cloud FAST by leveraging what you already have
SALES ORGANIZATIONS DEMAND CLOUD SOLUTIONS
Every “end-user” (aka normal human being) wants to use cloud products to do their day to day business. In my observation this is especially true of Sales organizations. Sales guys want to sell stuff, not fumble around to get to their accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, etc. SAP Cloud for Customer, to me, is a no-brainier solution to realize tremendous value for any Sales Organization currently operating with SAP CRM OnPrem. The solution looks great, feels great, is easy to use, and has a fabulous mobile platform.
Sales Organizations around the world are beginning to demand these capabilities. But there is a technical roadblock when it comes to implementing SAP Cloud for Customer in a hybrid model with SAP CRM OnPrem. Often large organizations have heavily customized their OnPrem solution. Custom fields, custom UI’s, custom, complex business logic, etc. This represents a large investment that would be equally large to realize in a cloud solution.
USE WHAT YOU GOT
So my solution to address this roadblock is to not. Yes, I said do not address the roadblock. Sure, you may need to do some UI and data field customization on the cloud, but leave the heavy lifting to your existing investment. Remember that SAP Cloud for Customer and SAP CRM OnPrem have bi-directional synchronization of most all business scenarios. This means that when a cloud transaction is synched to your OnPrem solution, let your OnPrem, solution do it’s thang! It will come back to the cloud with all that fancy business logic built into the transaction. Here is an illustration of this concept:
To me this is shockingly obvious. You want your cloud to be light and airy, and your OnPrem solution to be a mechanical brute. Ultimately everyone will want to move everything to the cloud, but that’s simply not necessary to realize tremendous value from cloud products very quickly.
Now let me expunge upon the benefits of my proposal:
- Lower cost cloud implementation. Faster implementation cycle. Faster time to value.
- No additional expense in rebuilding the complexities of your OnPrem solution in the cloud.
- SAP Cloud for Customer and SAP CRM OnPrem have out of the box integration scenarios. Can’t really say that for any other SFA vendor.
- Your cloud solution remains lightweight and user-friendly.
- SAP is innovating and investing in its cloud portfolio heavily and rapidly. Every release gets better and better. Look, everyone know I’m a hype hater, but I have always been excited by every cloud release.
THE CLOUD CAN BE FOR EVERYONE
Even the world’s largest companies can implement Cloud for Customer quickly by leveraging what they already have! Why complicate things? If you want to eventually move everything to the cloud, that’s wonderful, but realize you can do this over time. Allow what you’ve already heavily invested in do the grunt work, and let the cloud be breezy.
