Webi Rich Client Debugger

There is a Debugger build into the Webi Rich Client, which is apparently is a secret since I can’t seem to find any information on it from
SAP. I was able to find reference to it in the following forum post.

http://scn.sap.com/blogs/hamueller/2012/08/16/displaying-webi-report-parts-via-opendocument-in-bi-40

To open Debugger:

  1. In Webi Rich Client, open a report
  2. In the bottom left hand corner of the window, you’ll see a drop down button with the name of the report you’re currently looking at…

If you hold down Left shift and slowely mouse over the button and around it, you should get a popup of the debugger. I say SHOULD because I cannot always get it to appear…

Once in the Debugger, you can see all sorts of interesting and useful information. One thing that you actually need this for is determining
the report Part IDs if you are trying to pull in or manipulate a certain report part.

What I have found for repeatable results; hold shift and mouseover the report name starting from above and move down onto the report name dropdown box.  Coming from the rightside by the arrow just initiates the dropdown box.

For BI 4.1 SP6, there is a link to their online help (picture of a blue puzzle piece), you'll need to shift+hover over that, as opposed to the Report Name.

For WBI Rich Client 4.3 this does not seem to work. If somebody has a clue, please let everyone else know.
