BI 4.0 IDT – Your universe contains broken links
Issue: While trying to publish the business layer to repository , we are getting the error, “Your universe contains broken links”.
What does this mean?
How do you fix?
Resolution:
Answer 1:
When multiple users retrieve the universe to local projects with different name and different folder names, this issue may occur.
Fix 1:
1., right click on your business_layer.blx which you want to export , then select > Show Local dependencies and then > Referenced Resources—-> here you should see broken links.
2., just rename the project name and the folder where is stored your .blx which you want to export according to the Location path in broken link
Fix 2:
Create a shared project
Push local copy to server via Project Synchronization
Have teammates pull down the shared project to work on the universe.
Hope this help.

Informative!!!
Check integrity coudl help too to fix if any obejct or join is curreoted:
After running integrity checker , if you found one particular object in the data foundation that was reporting an error, fix it then save. Open the Business Layer and re-mappe the data foundation to the existing data foundation.Saved, close and then make a check of integrity . Publish the universe successfully.
Is this a bug?
Will this be fixed in future releases.
We have some unx universes were we copied some of the objects from one universe to the another universe (in a different project).. and every time we try to export the universe we have to make sure all the projects are open and the respective retrieval folders if any are available in those folders.
useful info 🙂
Thanks Sandeep, but neither of the FIXes resolves the core issue.
I have copied an existing folder which contains the .blx, .dfx, .cns to another project and trying to rename both .blx and .dfx that will be used for some other purpose.
But as soon as I rename the .dfx, and remap the .blx to point to this .dfx, the business layer is not able to publish this universe to repository. It gives the "universe contains broken links" error.
Somehow the business layer is unable to forget its previous .dfx name. How do I overcome this issue?
It seems to be a bug!!!! What you experts feel???
