For sure you know some of the prominent buzzwords of IT innovation – big data, mobile, social, cloud... just to name a few. Actually we see them as technology trends that will shape our industry, and did shape business already.
Many customers and partners have adapted their business or invented new business thanks to these technologies. Now, how do you explain how this technology provides value, how it works? Well, best showcase it and give the people some gamification to experience it.
And that’s what SAP did.
Now some would say, that's not unique – I would argue – it works, it has a purpose and it illustrated what can be done.
So what did we do?
The solution is pulling data through our Social Media Analytics by Netbase, which actually is an extremely impressive social monitoring tool we use in many Customer related solution scenarios. It is constantly querying the social media world - to name a few: Twitter, Facebook, forums, blogs, consumer reviews and professional reviews, news, additional social networks such as MySpace and Friend feed, and regional channels… and I am sure many more.
In terms of the approach, the team conducted an initial listening exercise in which identified 7 key categories where people were talking about innovation and inspiration. Then these terms are used in the solution to define listening criteria across 75 countries. We query the results and populate the canvas map with data from the last 3 months.
