The 18th SAP Academic Conference EMEA took place last week in Munich together with the 10th Anniversary of the University Competence Center Munich.
The SAP Academic Conference EMEA is the annual conference for member faculty from all over Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The event brought together leading educators and experts to discuss new topics like SAP HANA or Mobile. It provides a tremendous opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences with more than 400 colleagues and partners and to form networking contacts for future curricula and research development. This year’s focus region was CIS.
Pre-Conference Program
The week was packed with various agenda topics. From Monday till Wednesday several classroom trainings took place at the TU München. More than 50 professors and lecturers attended courses on SAP HANA, SAP Mobile, ERPsim. Furthermore, the first Design Thinking Train the Trainer course in EMEA was kicked-off.
On Monday and Tuesday, we were also happy to offer a special guest lecture on digital photography and the power of visual language by the artist Pavel Kaplun.
On Wednesday, September 11, a dedicated student event was organized. More than 30 students from Germany, Austria, and Slovenia attended a one-day Student Design Thinking Jam. Throughout the day, the students had to develop ideas for the “Next Generation Information” System for Students and the “Mobile & Distance Learning experience” in the 21th century.
In addition to that a designated CIS-roundtable devoted to cross-European educational and scientific collaboration in the sphere of information systems and business process management was held as a pre-conference event on September 11, 2013 with 38 professors, lecturers and researchers from Germany and Russia.
SAP Academic Conference
The main conference day took place on September 12. Several keynotes and presentations were held with regard to new and existing projects and product innovations focusing on SAP’s cloud strategy, Big Data, and Design Thinking. During the breaks, all attendees had the possibility to interact with experts and partners in the exhibition area. This year, we were lucky to offer 21 expert tables ranging from hardware partners such as IBM and HP to HR experts from SAP itself and the SAP Ecosystem Recruiting and various tables on curriculum and innovation topics.
The evening event of the SAP Academic Conference was jointly hosted together with the 10th Anniversary of the UCC Munich at the Hacker Pschorr Bräuhaus, a traditional Munich brewery. During the anniversary speech, highlights about the 10 years of great collaboration were outlined. Furthermore, the first three UA Visionary Membership titles were awarded to selected professors.
On September 13, 10 break-out sessions on SAP’s innovation topics were offered in the morning and early afternoon. In addition to that the CVLBA Research track took place throughout the whole Friday.
