A dashboard is a cluster of information at one glance to make informed decisions. Making intelligent use of space to help derive more information is what I was looking for in one of my assignments. This idea of ‘Making use of label based menu to trigger multiple drill-down reports’ then struck me. This blog explains how you achieve the same.
Along with the dashboard we can provide extra information by using Drill down reports. For example, a link to a BEx query output to give detail information about what is displayed in the dashboard. For the same, we would usually use the obvious option of ‘URL button’ component. But, if we want to show too many reports in one dashboard, then using many URL buttons on the dashboard would be monotonous and also a waste of space. Hence, we can use a label based menu instead of the many URL buttons.
Following is the document explaining how to achieve the same:
This will save a lot of space on the dashboard and allow us to show the necessary drill-down reports in one dashboard without using too many visible URL buttons. I have attached a sample xlf as well for reference. Change the extension of the file from ‘.txt’ to ‘.xlf’ to access the file using dashboards.
