Hi, community,

In this blog, I want to share information on my book on SAP performance optimization. The new edition (7th edition) is available in German (as of May 2013) and English (soon).

In English: Thomas Schneider: “SAP Performance Optimization Guide: Analyzing and Tuning SAP Systems”
http://www.sap-press.com/products/SAP-Performance-Optimization-Guide%3A-Analyzing-and-Tuning-SAP-Sys...

In German: Thomas Schneider: “SAP-Performanceoptimierung”
http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-3321

The methods for performance analysis and optimization presented in this book reflect those initially used by experts in the EarlyWatch service and GoingLive Check and are
included in the SAP Basis training courses ADM315 Workload Analysis and ADM490 Optimization of ABAP Programs.

For more than a decade, the SAP Performance Optimization Guide to integrates perennially important topics like sizing, memory management, and monitoring.  This is the seventh edition of this book, and with each new edition, I take the opportunity to thoroughly describe current trends in product development at SAP and, wherever relevant, to consider developments in the IT world in general.

In this edition, we have almost completely rewritten the Java topics and combined them in one chapter. Another new chapter is dedicated to the most important innovation from SAP for many years, SAP HANA, which initially focuses on the HANA database platform. Other HANA services are not yet dealt with due to a lack of practical
experience. All other chapters have been revised and updated for this edition; for example, we describe the new ABAP load distribution concept (new to SAP NetWeaver 7.40) and have included the topic of background remote function calls (RFCs). We have also added a section on the SAP Sybase ASE database to Appendix A (Database Monitors).

If you have feedback, comments, etc.,: here is the right place to post them.

Best regards,

Thomas
