SAP NW MDM provides us with beautiful fearture in the form of remote keys, which serves as cross reference between systems.

Many a times duplicate entires or wrong entries get created  that cause lot of confusion. This effect is  more pronounced when we have many remote systems and keys. In the following blog I have illustrated a small workaround to get rid of such wrongly created remote key values so that we can populate them correctly. The following snapshots would illustrate the steps involved -

1. In the current scenario we have a lookup table with wrong entries in remote key section as shown below. Our requirement here is to remove these entries and not cause multiple unwanted entries in the remote key section of record.

Export this data along with remote keys.

2.Create a dummy entry in this lookup table -

3.Edit the exported data, and set description as "DUMMY"so that all the entries have same value for matching field as the dummy record created above in step 2.

In our case we have modified the description data and set it as "DUMMY" for all records.

4.Connect to Import Manager - Use Description as match field as it is set "DUMMY" for all source records and one destination record.

Map the matching field and Remote Key.Import setting Import Action as "Update NULL"

5.Checking remote keys of records post step 4.

6.Deleting the DUMMY record.

7.Reimporting the data mapping correct remote keys.

This way we can get rid of multiple erroneous or wrongly created entries in remote keys.

Thanks,

Ravi
