As BI4.1 SP1 Dashboard already Generally Available and one of the new feature come with Dashboard is the ability to use BEx Variable and connect it to spreadsheet.

It’s a nice feature as BEx Query Prompt is not compatible for mobile yet. So the workaround we can use Combo Box component to trigger BEx Variable that link to cell in MS Excel spreadsheet.

Here is the screenshot :

But since the prompt is cascading or have dependency to other variable so only first variable can connect to spreadsheet. Fortunately SAP Notes come in to help 1830605 so go to CMC – Servers – right click Dashboard Processing Services and choose properties and add DguessDependencies=false to JAVA VM Child Arguments.

With this all of your BEx variable can be assign to spreadsheet and assign it to combo box… you’re good to go for Dashboard Mobile.

Cheers…. 🙂

We have installed SAP BI 4.1 SP1 Patch 1 for all client tools and he Server and the cell binding option in the dashboard is still greyed out (variables are greyed out and the cell object is greyed out).

Is there any specail configuration that is necessary in the dashbaord or the BEx Query to get this to work?

    Looking forward to the answer.
