Email alerts for rule thresholds are configured but the notifications aren’t being sent out.
The reason the email issue is happening is because all the jobservers need to have the email destination setup. Not just the ISjobserver as stated in the admin guides.
Both the 4.0 and the 4.1 admin guides are wrong.
In the IS 4.0 admin guide it states.
5.4.4 Rule threshold notification
The Data Insight Administrator or someone in the Administrator group can configure the server to provide email notifications in the Central Management Console (CMC). A Data Insight user must have already created the profile task or rule task on Information Steward (see “Creating a profile task” or “Creating a rule task and setting an alert” in the User Guide).
When a calculate score task is created, you have the option to provide an email address for notification when the rule score falls below the low threshold setting. You must configure the notification server before processing the task so the server has the correct information to send in the alert. To configure the notification server to receive processing information: You’ll receive an email when the task is complete.
- In the CMC Home window, click Servers.
- Select Server List and then highlight the AdaptiveProcessingServer. If you have more than one available, you must configure all of them. This line is wrong.
- Choose Manage > Properties and then select Destination in the navigation pane.
- Select Email from the Destination drop-down list and then click Add.
- To set up a notification server for rules, you must enter information into the Domain, Host, Port and From fields. All other fields are optional.
In the IS 4.1 admin guide it states.

I’ve submitted corecctions to be made in the Admin Guide
IS 4.0 Admin guide line 2 correction: Select Server List and then highlight the ISJobServer. If you have more than one jobserver (not just the ISjobserver) available, you must configureall of them.
IS 4.1 Admin guide line 2 correction: Select Server List and then highlight the ISJobServer. If you have more than one jobserver (not just the ISjobserver) available, you must configureall of them.
KBA to cover the above. 1867181 – Email alerts for rule thresholds are configured but the notifications aren’t being sent out.
Hope this helps others from getting the headaches this gave me.
Thanks,

Thanks, Bill. I have created an issue to update the Admin Guide.
If you find an issue in any of the IS documentation, please feel free to contact me or any of the others in IS KM.

Karen
Hi Karen,
I have found one more mistake in IS 4.2 SP 1 Admin documentation. The details are as follows:
In section 11.4.2, View Data Services configuration parameters, document states that the Batch Size of View Data Service can be set Min of 1000 KB and Max of 50000 KB. But system is not accepting more than 5000 KB. So it should be 5000 KB not 50000 KB.
Thanks,
Ramakrishna Kamurthy
Thank you Ramakrishna. I will write up an issue to correct the documentation in a future release.
Regards,
Karen
Looking at the step below:
the AdaptiveJobServer is the correct option to configuration Email notification destination. AdativeProcessingServer does not have Destination on its properties.
