I watched this today online at ASUGNews.com and with my disclaimer - these are my notes as I heard them.

Figure 1: Source: SAP

Figure 1 shows the scope of “dark data” as defined by SAP.  SAP’s Christian Rodatus and adam.binnie presented today’s keynote.

Here is the Youtube trailer:

We heard the phrases “Discover new insights”, “Power of connected knowledge”,  “Unleash power of collective insight”.

Enterprise BI

Figure 2: Source: SAP

Three categories are listed in Figure 2:

  1. Enterprise BI

   2.  Agile BI

   3.  Advanced Analytics

At this point Christian mentioned Big Point, makers of BattleStar Galactica – shoots, gamer, offers something

  • Complex event processing
  • Predictive models
  • HANA
  • Compute – offer real time offer management
  • “decision in a second”

Video:

At this point, Adam Binnie presented Enterprise BI, defined as BI4.1

Figure 3: Source: SAP

Figure 3 covers Enterprise BI, which is BI when they need it, where they need it

What does it mean? BI4.1

SAP says BI4.1 is “one suite for all insight, one place for all information, one standard for Enterprise BI”.  They said they had a fast successful ramp-up.  They recommend customers move towards it for reliable, stable, “full of innovation”.

One suite that is connected better, as it connects to BW, Hadoop, any source .

It is one standard for BI – well managed, organized, and trusted

Adam demonstrated BI4.1 Analysis for OLAP

Figure 4: Source: SAP

Adam demonstrated through a quick sort to show which airlines has worst departure delay

Then with one click from Analysis OLAP he went to Design Studio, assigned it the mobile category, and it was available on the iPad with swiping.

One click takes you to Design Studio, which can deploy to the iPad:

Figure 7 covers a preview of SP12

Lumira is on a fast release cycle

It leverages HTML5

There is a new option called Compose, with the ability to create visual story and share

Predictive

Figure 8: Source: SAP

With Predictive, you can “foresee the future before it happens” and it is part of Advanced Analytics

Who is at risk, who is the most valuable customer?

You create models to apply broadly – everyone can leverage them

Use predictive to gain new insight about the future

Figure 9:

Predictive leverages Lumira, with a diversity of algorithms, R support

The power is to take those models and operate real-time in HANA

They then showed the eBay video; eBay has 50 petabytes of data

Partnering in Ecosystem

Figure 10: Source: SAP

Figure 10 shows an open system, with over 100 partners present

450 startups are leveraging HANA

Wipro built some visual extensions using the SDKs.  One was a telecom loyalty chart

Adam Binnie demonstrated a free extension to Dashboards using real-time  event stream processing –He said this could be used with any stream of data in real-time.  You can apply to your operations center, machine data, using who is coming in and out of retail location.  It is available in a few weeks.
