17 professors and lecturers from 10 Italian Universities attended the kick-off event on July 4, 2013 in the SAP Office in Vimercate, Italy. Throughout several presentations, the professors were introduced to the SAP University Alliances program and the possible cooperation benefits. Within this framework, the learn, apply, share – concept, innovation projects and the SAP Student Academy were presented to the audience.

Several joint events and initiatives are planned as an outcome to foster the strong collaboration between SAP and the Universities in Italy. One example for this is the Startup Focus Program by PoliHub and SAP, an initiative to promote innovation within the Italian community of startup, engine economic and social renewal. Furthermore, the SAP Startup Forum and HANA Bootcamp will take place in September  – for two days of collaboration, learning and networking with like-minded leaders focused on analytics and big data trends and technologies. In addition to that the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2013), will be held in Milano, Italy from December 15-18, 2013 where 1,000 IS academic professions from around the world participate. SAP is one of the main sponsors and will use this event to further strengthen the relationship with the academic world and discuss new co-innovation projects.
