Social Network Statistics using SAP Lumira
I have selected Social Network Statistics to experience SAP Lumira for the first time. Here is my little story about my first experience with Lumira.
Motivation
The richest people in the world look for and build NETWORKS, everyone else look for WORK. – Robert Kiyosaki
Building networks is important in the competitive world whether it targets to sell a product or expand the brand name. Social Networks are the best place to fulfill this mission in internet. My objective is to find Social Networks with highest no of users and best page rank in web search. The dataset I have used in the analysis can be used to determine which Social Network is suitable for an individual or a firm to expand their brand through internet.
Action Plan
- Set up the system
- Learn the basic functionalities of SAP Lumira (I am an ABAPER and this is my first attempt in SAP’s Analytics space)
- Find the dataset through Google
- Refine the data
- Upload the data to Lumira
- Visualize the data
Setting up the system
First impression: Lumira setup file was comparatively light weight and installation procedure was very easy (just like normal windows programs).
Learning the basic functionality
I have gone through the official product tutorials to get better understanding of SAP Lumira.
Finding the dataset
I have collected the data from Wikipedia and created an excel file.

Excel sheet
Refining the data
- Hyperlinks were removed from the excel records.
- Alexa’s page rank and registered users columns were converted into number format.
Uploading the data into Lumira
I have excluded the ‘Date Launched’ column from the excel sheet while uploading it.
