Dennis works for Honeywell Aerospace and will share how Lumira with SAP HANA provides self-service BI. It is session code EA 112 Empowered Self-Service BI with SAP HANA and SAP Lumira
Q: Please tell us about yourself:
A: I’m an IT PLAN Manager for the Honeywell Aerospace IT Business Intelligence & Technology team, but I’m commonly referred to as the “BI Evangelist” here and other times I’m called “Jack” as in “Jack of All Trades”. I’ve been working with various SAP applications for nearly 20 years, starting with SAP R/3 2.2c and am now work with the SAP HANA and SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 BI Suite. While I have a manager title, I remain involved in the technical aspects of business intelligence activities. Over the years I have held managerial and senior individual contributor positions in data modeling, analytic/report development and ETL development. I have built end-to-end business intelligence solutions that are still in use today by the Honeywell Aerospace business and these solutions.
Today, I evaluate the use cases and train development staff whenever new applications, such as SAP Lumira or SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio, are introduced into the environment. I have also held one-on-one training sessions with “data junkies” in the business to train them on the uses of SAP Lumira and other self-service capabilities within the SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 BI Suite.
Q: What do you hope attendees will learn from your ASUG session at SAP TechEd?
A: I hope that those attending my session will come away with some ideas of how they can implement a Self-Service Business Intelligence model and that it’s not as scary as it sounds.

SAP HANA has enabled the Honeywell Aero IT BI team to deliver valuable information to end users. This information is the key enabler for various end users. SAP Lumira has empowered end users across the organization with the ability to combine multiple data sets and deliver a cohesive set of analytics and reports in order to make quicker decisions and take proactive corrective action. What typically took end users weeks to perform, using disparate datasets and tools, has been shrunk into less than a day. In conclusion, SAP HANA, coupled with SAP Lumira, provides a single version of truth about organizational health to end users from diverse functional areas.
