Duplication in attribute display: Attribute FIN_RFC_CREATOR already used

While configuring Dispute Management (FSCM-DM) it is possible that you might come across the error “Duplication in attribute display: Attribute  FIN_RFC_CREATOR already used“. The error neither has any additional help nor it has any error number. Googling the error yields no good results either – at least until the time this blog is written. SAP Notes search also yields nothing.

Ingeniously with little bit of common sense and clicking through SPRO, I figured out that the reason for this error is quite simple. The ‘Attribute Profile’ configuration is incorrect, potentially because someone changed the standard SAP delivered ‘FIN_DISP’ profile that you used as the basis for creating your own ‘Attribute Profile’.

The main thing to check in your ‘Attribute Profile’ and to make sure is that the combination of ‘Group’, ‘Row’ and ‘Column’ values should be unique for a given ‘Case Attribute’. If two or more ‘Case Attributes’ have similar values, then you will see the “Duplication in attribute display” error.

Once this configuration is fixed, then go back to UDM_DISPUTE and try creating the case. Magically this error should not come up anymore.
