Donations R Us!
I have to admit that I have worked at a fair number of tech companies. I have not been at any company, nor heard of one from anyone in my network that donates as much equipment as SAP does to the community in general. Having sponsored a donation to a french-immersion school in Ontario, I have seen what the donated equipment has allowed the kids to do. I hear about other donations and can only imagine what it means to the companies/places receiving the euquipment. I am not sure how it works outside of the Americas, but here it is very straight forward and I recommend to anyone that might know of a worthy cause in need of a donation….to champion it and drive it through. We are continually replacing equipment that is still functional….let’s get this euqipment into the hands of people who really need it instead of looking to garner a few dollars back from disposal companies.
Labs Latin America in Sao Leopoldo Brazil just had a number of donations go through and was able to reduce their stock of older equipment….good for SAP IT, good for the companies receiving the equipment.
Here are some of the recipients:
CAPSI – a social attention center for children
Nomero Fraga Elementary School
Eu Cidadao: Volunteer project that SAP employees participate int that gives IT classes to needy people
IEDE: A Spiritual Education Center
Sao Leopoldo City Hall – Education Center
