Quick and Dirty Guide to Crystal Reports 2011 vs Crystal Reports for Enterprise

Currently, SAP offers two versions of Crystal Reports:  Crystal Reports 2011 (CR2011) and Crystal Reports for Enterprise (CR4E).

I have seen lots of Crystal Reports confusion lately.

Here are some of the similarities as well as differences:

Both products:
Have client side installed products (to your desktop)
          Use the same key code
(as of Feature Pack 3) support relational data sources
Reports can be viewed and scheduled through the Business Intelligence Platform (BIP) using BI Launchpad

Some major differences:
                                        CR2011               CR4E
Written in:                             C++ (Windows only)   Java
Universe connectivity:                  UNV universe only    UNX universe only
Crystal repository (shared objects):    Yes                  No
Native ECC driver:                      Yes                  No – must use UNX Universe
