Afaria for Android

Afaria is an MDM (mobile device management) solution from SAP that, among other features, secures sensitive content on mobile devices. Businesses from large to small see valuable business data spread across multiple devices at the workplace and at home, and managing the content and security of those devices is of the utmost importance.

This has traditionally led to some problems with Android. Android’s OS has been criticized in the past for being insecure, and SAP’s Afaria solution can be very difficult to integrate with Android. This has led to Android being passed over by businesses concerned with security.

Just last week at Rapid, we demonstrated that those fears may be misplaced. We’ve run Afaria on Windows 8 perfectly, and now we are also capable of seamlessly integrating Afaria with Android!

Our Senior Middleware and Mobility Systems Administrator Seamaf Bchihalouk led our team to the breakthrough. “Now with the smart phone market no longer having a clear cut winner since Android has taken off, it became clear that certain companies will choose Android devices in their businesses,” says Bchihalouk. “We sucessfully enrolled and controlled Android devices using Afaria as an MDM in order to provide greater corporate security and general control over devices.
