Details of sessions
We’re offering 2 hands-on sessions this year at TechEd:
· CD267: “The Best of Both Worlds: SAP GUI and SAP NetWeaver Business Client”
“Migrating from a SAP GUI standalone to SAP NetWeaver Business Client 4.0 for Desktop offers expert users the best of both worlds: the familiarity of SAP GUI transactions in the embedded SAP GUI for Windows plus all UI innovations available with SAP NetWeaver Business Client. In this hands-on session, you will learn how to improve the end user’s experience by enhancing a sample role with new content including side panels, search providers, and a configurable home page. You will discover side panels and configure them including business function activation and you will then configure search providers. You will also create a configurable cockpit using pre-defined Chips. “
This is for administrators who are aware of SAP NetWeaver Business Client and who would like provide end users with some of the advantages – eg of predefined side panel content (“Chips”), or of multiple system access.
· CD268: Side Panel and CHIPs – Behind the Scenes
You can significantly improve the user experience and productivity with SAP NetWeaver Business Client, Web Dynpro ABAP, and SAPUI5 UI technologies. Cockpits provide a quick start to a user’s tasks or a business overview. With the side panel, existing applications can be enriched in a non-disruptive and context-sensitive way. In this session, you will learn how to apply the side panel technology with different SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP releases. You will explore different technologies for usage within side panel and cockpits such as collaborative human interface parts (CHIPs) based on Web Dynpro ABAP and SAPUI5, and enhance side panel applications to become aware of data extracted from applications based on SAP GUI or Web Dynpro ABAP that are running in the main content area.
This is a real deep dive, by developers for developers, eg if you want to learn how to create and wire your own Chips.
The content is completely different, so I think a lot of people will benefit from both sessions.
We’ve also lined up:
SPK9589 and SPK9591: Speaker Networking Sessions: SAP NetWeaver Business Client – not BLR
Anything you want to know about SAP NetWeaver Business Client – including what’s new, how does it fit our overall UX strategy; how does it fit with Business Suite innovations
· EXP10100 A new user experience with NWBC 4.0 (Las Vegas) – with John Moy
Veteran and SCN Mentor John Moy shares his experiences implementing NWBC 4.0 on a real-life project. What are the benefits, and what are the challenges? Also inviting others to participate with their own experiences. Everyone welcome for an interactive, collaborative discussion.
Customer / Partner Presentations (EMEA): Leiden University / NL4B
we will explain the added value of SAP NetWeaver Business Client and its position within our user interface strategy. We will talk about the lessons learned migrating from SAP GUI to SAP NetWeaver Business Client. We will show how this software helped us to integrate processes based on existing and new on-premise, on-demand, and on-device applications. We will explain the relation with the SAP renewal program, the SAP user interface add-on, and SAP Fiori applications. We will also explain the technical parts like SAP NetWeaver Business Client installation and the relation with custom developments based on Web Dynpro ABAP floor plan manager, SAP NetWeaver Gateway, SAPUI5, and SAP HANA.
· Keep this blog bookmarked, since I hope to add content – before (session times etc, if possible some background material), – and after (Virtual Hands On, FAQs arising from the sessions).
