Self Service BI Lumira – EMEA Webcast

Where does BI fit in with all the technology? For HANA, self-service includes Lumira, Explorer and Predictive Analysis.
Mobile is the infrastructure and another it is the applications, including dashboards and reporting. Mobile BI app has been downloaded half a million times.
Inside the suite you can use reporting inside with operational intelligence.
Lumira is for business and power users without IT.

Figure 2 shows the evolution of self-service.
Exploration for SAP started with Polestar in 2007.
In 2010 mobile was enabled.
Extended scope and considerations therefore it was rebranded Lumira
Lumira Cloud was just released.

Explorer includes the consumption of the information, with quick visualizations and it is available in mobile.
Lumira can combine local with departmental data.
Power user uses corporate warehouse and uses assumptions for business plan which is in Excel.
Lumira can bring this together with a few mouse clicks and then share with other teams.

When you start Lumira, Figure 4 shows the data you can connect.

Figure 5 shows two kinds of data acquisition flow. With HANA as a data source you are already done.
For off line source data is held in memory on the client.

Excel has no data dictionary. To add meaning to raw data Lumira has semantic enrichment which you can use or not use.
You can select what is a measure, dimension, time field, geographic dimension – Lumira will auto-detect.

Figure 7 shows Lumira has a “Do it” function for data manipulation.
Only the actions that are available for fields are available for manipulation.
You can fix misspelled data.
The data manipulation stays even with updates.

It has the feeling of an application and not a browser.

A: need some data such as Excel or CSV and need Lumira desktop and then load data
Q: Does Lumira contain City data as part of geo data?
A: Yes it has cities
Q: What is difference between Lumira and Predictive?
A: Predictive is for data mining, forecasting, what will happen in future
Q: If you have desktop license do you have license for cloud?
A: These are different licenses as cloud license is subscription based by month by user
