Users often ask about, can I get to the inbox from Email address. I believe NAVURL can be used efficiently for the requirement. My self not being portal admin, I try to find NAV URL by adding the URL to my favorites.

Although UWL is a way today to access users inbox. I often receive on UWL as a not very user friendly place. Most of the time there are other ways performing the tasks in portal. For example, Performance Appraisal tasks can be performed in UWL or in other tabs in ESS and MSS. I think it is good idea to point workflow items related to performance appraisal directly to there respective tabs instead of UWL. Other advantages being, users are now able to get to the application easily and also perform other tasks such as analytical’s and reporting.

I would appreciate your comments on this approach.

    Hi Sireesh,

I am sure you realise there are many ways for users to execute workflow decisions. The blog Which Inbox When? Choosing your #Workflow Inbox by Jocelyn Dart is a great place to start.

Jocelyn’s blog inspired Susan Keohan to present on the same topic at SAP TechEd in Las Vegas this year. The details are here. (Disclosure – I will be helping Sue present this topic)

I will also be presenting at SAP TechEd a session called Workflow Approval – Anywhere, Anytime that touches on some of the same issues you are trying to address and talks about how the business case for the 2-Cliks workflow approval solution and how it was built.

    Cheers

    Graham Robbo

Thanks Graham for the info. I am trying to find ways to get to UWL from outlook created by a SAP Business Workflow. Ideally, there should be a way to execute the UWL workitem directly from email.
