Important Notes

2083727  – SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA Best Practices (S-user required)

This SAP Note is the central place for best practices in SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA.
1944415 – Hardware Configuration Guide and Software Installation Guide for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with SAP HANA and SAP Business One  (S-user required)
Check this updated note including two guides: “How to configure hardware platforms for SuSE Linux Enterprise Server” and “How to install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Business One products on SAP HANA”.

2000521 – Row tables transformed into column tables (S-user required)

With SAP Business One 9.0, version for SAP HANA, some tables exist as row stores instead of column stores. SAP Business One intends to transform the row tables into column tables gradually, please check this note for more details.

1976622 – You Can Now Use Semantic Layers Provided by SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA (S-user required)

SAP already provides a series of predefined HANA models covering Financial, Sales, Purchase, Stock etc for your analytics, namely as Semantic Layer. Using semantic layers, you can easily analyse your company’s Financial and Business data with KPI, Pervasive Dashboard, Interactive Analytics, SAP Lumira  and Crystal Report etc. The note also includes a how-to guide(How to Work with Semantic Layers.pdf) as attachment with details about how to use each predefined model, please refer to the guide for details.

1966134 – Primary keys of some tables are no longer consecutive (S-user required)

Check this note if your development supposes primary keys are consecutive.

2084325 – Upgrade SLES 11 SP2 to SP3 with higher versions of Linux Kernel to avoid system standstill and data inconsistency (S-user required)

[VERY IMPORTANT]

If you are running SAP Business One products on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 SP2 and have configured XFS as the file system for your database, your database system may be affected by a bug with some older versions of Kernel: Linux Kernel lower than 3.0.80-0.5.1 can cause data inconsistency after a reboot and, in the worst cases, a system standstill. Please see SAP Note 1867783 for details.

3.High Availability

There are two High Availability solutions available for SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA

  • Manual Failover: Transactions could still be placed after a failover, but Analytics features will be restored after running a script to switch the analytics service to the new server. This manual failover mechanism requires the subscription licenses for sles4b1h image(specifically tailored for B1H).
  • Automatic Failover: No manual script needed. Both Transactions and Analytics will continue working after restarting the SAP Business One application. This auto failover mechanism is built on SLES high availability extension which requires the subscription licenses for sels4sap image(designed for SAP Applications with a higher subscription fee).

Both failover mechanisms are implemented in the HANA and B1H server side other than the SAP Business One Client side.

When failover happens, the existing B1 Application connections will be hung without response, you should need to restart(close and open again) the SAP Business One Application with same server information, user credential for reconnecting to HANA server.

For more details, please refer to the following official document.

#3.Installation

Important: SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA has a strong version dependence on SAP HANA. A patch level of B1H could only work with a certain revision of SAP HANA, not every HANA revision. And the HANA Engine components should be downloaded from SAP Business One software download area instead of a SAP HANA generic download area.

Before installation, you should check the overview note of B1H to find out the correct versions of B1H and HANA Rev. Please check the section “Release Notes” on this page for all details.

#4.System Configuration of Post-Installation

Please refer to the section 7 about Performing Post-Installation Activities in  Administrator’s Guide for SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA

Two types of license are required:

4.2 Initialising B1 company schema for Analytical Features
