This post and accompanying video illustrate the various settings available for specifying language or locale settings in SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for OLAP.

The video first walks us through using the “Save Language” option, when defining the connection. It’s important to note, by checking this option, ALL users using this connection will have this language specified as their locale, regardless of their browser or Business Objects platform preference.

The video then proceeds to demonstrate the use of the “Product Locale”, when a language has not been saved with the connection.

And finally, the Preferred Viewing Locale is demonstrated. This is available when connecting to Microsoft Analysis Services. For BW connections, the recommendation is to set the number and date settings using the SU01 transaction.

Please note, the “Product Locale” sets the language of the application, the data or content is not affected. To set the numeric and date formats, use the “Product Viewing Locale” (SSAS) or SU01 transaction (BW).

Best regards,
