In March I wrote a blog on SAP’s official strategy as it relates to workforce planning and analytics. To summarize, the recommended approach is to workforce planning and analytics, I would say that the recommendation is for HR departments to unplug themselves from BW and use a dedicated standalone cloud analytics, the SuccessFactors solution. It serves a few purposes:

  • Increase speed and efficiency in producing accurate information
  • Provide Insight into workforce dynamics and composition to help business make better decisions, quicker
  • Address critical resource gaps to drive business strategy and impact
  • Lower cost of ownership with delivered integration, flexibility to extend and meet special needs
  • Quick time to value; build in-house analytics skills

Overall, the major advantage and value proposition is that it allows HR departments to operate from a tool that is dedicated to them and has been built with the need of HR in mind. But this tool has to be fed. As shown in the picture below, it can actually be fed from any system, including SAP Financials for key hybrid metrics, for example metrics bringing together Finance and HR, Supply Chain and HR or Logistics and HR. How many boxes do my truck drivers carry on average and how does that correlate with the satisfaction of the customers they serve? How many clients do my sales representatives serve? Etc.

This asks the question of the extractors.

The integration add-on for SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) and SuccessFactors Business Execution (SuccessFactors BizX) enables the integration of data for employee data, organizational data, compensation data, and data that is required for evaluation purposes.

You can use this add-on to transfer employee data and organizational data from SAP ERP HCM to SuccessFactors BizX, to support Talent Management processes there. You can transfer compensation data from SAP ERP HCM to SuccessFactors BizX, to support Compensation Management processes there. You can return the compensation data processed in SuccessFactors BizX to SAP ERP HCM so that this data can be included in payroll. You can transfer data required for evaluations from SAP ERP HCM to SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics to support workforce planning and workforce analytics.
