Sitting at a coffee shop at the corner of Spadina and Queen, in the heart of the Toronto fashion district, I am enjoying a latte and some serious 'people watching'. I thought that this location, near the iconic thimble, would be the best spot in the city to write this blog.
I would like to introduce you to my new best friend, my personal shopper and life saver. Meet My Runway, the smart way to shop.
Please note that this solution is currently available in China and USA but I think it will spread across the globe in no time.
Yes, this is an SAP solution for those that are scratching their heads! And, there is an excellent story about innovation and collaboration behind this new SAP mobile app.

kelsey.wanas posted a great blog My Runway App: Co-Innovating with Brands for a Social Consumer Experience that outlines how 'the Technology Innovation Product Group at SAP Labs developed My Runway to give fashionistas a smarter way to shop chic and engage with a community of friends and fashionistas in a fun way.'
Furthermore, earlier this year at MWC 2013 I interviewed lalit.canaran, Director of Emerging Technologies and elena.hartlieb, Business Development & Customer Engagement Lead for My Runway, about the SAP AppHaus concept and program. This new approach is driving innovation and has spread across the globe in multiple SAP offices. It brings together customers, partners and SAP product experts to collaborate and deliver amazing mobile experiences. The My Runway app was developed in an SAP AppHaus, watch the video to the right to learn more about this innovative approach to new solutions.
Moving from how it was created, let's turn to the solution itself.
  1. Follow the brands you love - Get personalized updates of what's new, what's trending, and what's on sale.
  2. Busy? No problem! You can ask the app to alert you when your favorite brands are on sale.
  3. See product details and nearby store locations – all with one tap.
  4. Collect products you want to have in your wish list, and share with your best friends.
  5. Shake the magic box to win prizes (coupons, brand-name cosmetics, etc.)

Check out this video to understand the user experience!

Pretty cool! There are three major ways that you can learn more and get involved with this new solution:
  1. Download My Runway the app
  2. Participate in the #MyRunwaySweepstakes, visit the Pinterest and or Facebook pages
  3. Get involved in the SAP Fashion Ambassador Program
But there is more!
In the first video above, elena.hartlieb and lalit.canaran noted that they used design thinking to build their mobile apps. You too can learn how to use this approach to design and deploy a mobile solution in an open session tomorrow in Toronto.
Please join the Mobile Experience Innovation Centre (MEIC) for the launch of its new responsive website featuring videos from the Mobile Accelerator Program (MAP) 2013 series on New Product Development and the kick-off of the upcoming MAP series on Design Thinking. Helping MEIC to launch the MAP series on Design Thinking is Dr. Niels Billou:
Wednesday, June 19, 2013
4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
OCAD University Auditorium
Room 190, 100 McCaul Street, Toronto

Featured talk by Dr. Niels Billou who will explain the principles and practices of Design Thinking and how they can be applied to innovation challenges in the mobile space.

I hope to see you at the session tomorrow because SAP has played a significant role in the content for the new website and program!
