A current hot topic is Internet of Things. This is not a new topic but one that is gaining interest of many companies and organizations. The Internet of Things such as smart cities, connected vending machines, connected cars and smart homes will change the way we live our lives today and open new business scenarios for companies across industries like Utilities, Retail, Automotive, Public Sector and Healthcare.

Many customers and partners are asking how SAP will help enable the Internet of Things. Watch this video with Mobile Evangelist ian.thain and Global VP & Solution Leader for Internet of Things at SAP suhas.uliyarto hear SAP's vision of the Internet of Things and how SAP's solution will help enterprises uncover wisdom from the mountains of data in the connected world.

Beyond the how SAP will help enable the Internet of Things is what we are doing today. At MWC 2013 I first met with benjamin.wesson, VP Development of Internet of Things / M2M, SAP to experience an example of a solution. We had some fun with a vending machine scenario. Connected Vending optimizes replenishment and helps you better maintain equipment.  See how SAP Internet of Things marries Machine-to-Machine, mCommerce, SAP HANA analytics and mobile device management to delight vending machine customers and improve vending operations. View the interview to learn more.

But there is more. At SAPPHIRENOW Orlando 2013 I caught up with benjamin.wesson to uncover insights from the Internet of Things (IoT) by connecting silos of data created by both people and machine-to-machine (M2M) systems. This video covers end-to-end IoT solution that offers an integrated M2M platform, apps, connectivity, and real-time predictive analysis -- everything you need to connect people, systems, and machines.

I am sure that there will be many more IoT scenarios and stories in the future so stay tuned!
