· Introduction

AS ABAP instance of an SAP system containing the enqueue server and the message server (ASCS = ABAP SAP Central Services).

Since SAP NetWeaver 7.0 the Message Server and the Enqueue Work Process  are separated from the Central Instance. These two are grouped within the ABAP SAP  Central Services (ASCS) as server.

————————————————

· Component of ASCS

Enqueue work process administers the lock table in the shared memory . The lock table contains the logical database locks of the ABAP runtime environment of the SAP system. Only one enqueue work process is needed for each system

Message Server (MS) handles communication between the distributed dispatchers within the AS ABAP, thereby enabling scalability of several parallel application servers. The message server is configured only one per SAP system

· Separation of  ASCS from Central Instance

1. Split ASCS from CI

2. Uninstall ASCS from CI host after splitting

——————————————————

· Installation of ASCS

Now you can install the ASCS on new host.

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing the blog.

This is very much helpful for us.

I have a question that the same procedure can be carried out for SCS split for J2EE (JAVA) systems. Please confirm.

    Best Regards,

    Prabhu Reddy.

        Hi Atul,

        Thank you for the response.

Currently we have EP 731 and Solution Manager Java with 702. So I would like to know whether SWPM will support in SCS splitting from purely JAVA CI.

        Please suggest.

        Best Regards,

        Prabhu Reddy.

            Hi Atul,

Thank you very much for the response and SAP Note.

I have read this note before, but this valid for DB2/IBM OS and I was having doubt that the same procedure can be applied for ORACLE/IBM AIX and particurally can we split SCS from J2EE/JAVA central instnaces, this was my question.

Again confusion started when checked that J2EE/JAVA installation will default will have JC01 and SCS01 directories at OS level. So like we split in ABAP ASCS from CI, can we do it for JAVA.

            Best Regards,

            Prabhu Reddy.

              Hi Prabhu,

It can be apply on “CREATESCS can run on UNIX and z/OS, but not on Windows”

so in your case you can perfrom.

                Hi Atul,

                Thanks for the confirmation.

Generally client will ask for corresponding SAP Note, So just want to valid from SAP as well.

Generally the Netweaver systems will have JC01 and SCS01 directories after installation right, does this mean that the J2EE/JAVA is already split and separated SCS from JAVA/J2EE PAS/CI. Please suggest. Can we get any SAP Notes which will support this.

                Best Regards,

                Prabhu Reddy.

                  Hi Prabhu,

This is only sap note, but I do not understand How come two instance no are same in one system i.e. jc01 and scs01 in your case..

if you have already SCS and JC folder means it is sepearated but here you are going to do only separating it on seperate server , so JC and SCS willl run ontwo differnt server.

                    Hi Atul,

                    Thanks for clarifying my point.

I am sorry, it’s my mistake, actually it is JC00 and SCS01.

We are planning to spli the SCS in the same server and only for Production we are keeping it on a separate server.

So my question is can we split the SCS from JAVA CI in the same server?

Do we have any SAP Note which contains pre and post actions for SCS split.

                    Please share and suggest.

                    Best Regards,

                    Prabhu Reddy.

                        Hi Atul,

                        Thanks for the confirmation.

May you please let me know if there is any such guide or document which provides the impact on the integrated systems when you perform the ASCS split with different Instance number.

                        Please share and suggest.

                        Best Regards,

                        Prabhu Reddy.
