First I want to thank m.vanfoeken for his blog BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.1 SP01 is now GA - Installation

It was extremely helpful.  To quote his blog "I noticed that the BIP ADD-ON files for all the different operating systems are also part of the archive. Previously the could be downloaded separately from the SMP."  He indicates he will write about BI Platform Add-on installation on Linux.  This document reviews the installation on Windows.

First you must read the Installation Guide.  The SMP ID is required to access.  Special thanks to SAPSupportCE as we could not access this guide but they contacted the content owner to get it released.

After following the steps to unzip the installation files as mentioned by m.vanfoeken you can follow along below.

I am using Windows so I will use the Windows folder

At this point you need to select BI4 folder or the BI4.1 folder.  Please check the PAM.

Run the setup file as shown above.

You may need to wait for it to install.

I select English.

It passes, so I click Next.

On this screen, click Next.

At this screen, click Next.  This is where the software installs.

I went with the defaults.  Click Next.

Provide administrator logon credentials to the CMS.

Click Next.

At this point it takes about 50-55 minutes.  During this time, the Tom Petty song always goes through my head "the waiting is the hardest part".  Very true with this.

After 50-55 minutes, you see success!

Now you can start using Design Studio 1.1 with your BI Platform.

NEW in Design Studio 1.1 is to save your Design Studio application on BW.  Note you need the BI Java Usage type or the ECA usage type installed
