Inside Story About My SAP Financials Certification – Associate Level

Hello Every One,

I wanted to share with you all about my successful completion of my First SAP Certification – Associate Level held during the month of April 2013 here in Bangalore.

I also wanted tell you all about My Real and True Story – you can’t find this kind of story any where because it is totally different.

Qualification:  MBA Finance (Management Graduate 2010)
Work Experience – Fresher

First I wanted tell you all about how I got entry into SAP Authorized Center?

I had undergone SAP FICO Training at local center SAPTAC and SAPPHIRE Consulting Services Bangalore during 2011. After completing 45 days of training, I had started configuring my SAP System version ECC 6.0 and R/3- 4.7. I became familiar with configuration steps.  I had included about my SAP IDES Practice session in my CV. After this I started searching for SAP FICO Entry level jobs in Bangalore. Some companies started asking SAP Certification after seeing my CV. My hands were folded; I could not apply for the entry level certified roles as a fresher.

After having struggle of 2 years in job search for not being certified in SAP, I had prepared a real concept for Fresh Graduates to get SAP Training with Authorized Centers. I shared this concept with all major SAP Training Partners of Bangalore.  I had also shared slide share link about my missed out roles of 2011, 2012, 2013 January for not being certified.  They had reviewed it and I got response from SourceOne first. Second was ATOS and 3rd was Lithan Genovate.  SourceOne Business Head reviewed my missed out opportunities of Bangalore. I had shown them a hard copy of my missed out roles. They were shocked after seeing my research and missed out opportunities. They also said me that they have not seen a candidate like me. As a Fresh Graduate I got chance for SAP Training & Certification.

Name of the Center: SourceOne Management Services Pvt Ltd, Bangalore (

About the Center:
It is located at Bannerghutta Main Road, J.P.Nagar 3rd Phase.  SourceOne environment for SAP Training is really good. There were 4 Training Class rooms; they also have Online Training Lab facility equipped with more than 100 systems.  They have Certified Trainers for each module of SAP.  IT Infrastructure at this center is A Class.

My Training & Learning Experience:

I had selected ILTC – Instructed Led Class Room Training. Duration was 25 days including E learning. I completed E Learning before the commencement of Class room Training. On the very first day of training my trainer started with Theory and Configuration, TFIN 50 Part 1 – 5 days, TFIN 50 Part 2 – 5 days, TFIN 52 – 5 days. After each class they conducted revision.  During 4th week my trainer conducted Class Test on TFIN50 1&2 and TFIN52.  Learning theory and configuration was not a difficult task for me.  I had done rigorous study before joining this training. I enjoyed learning new version SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5. Difficulty level was less for me. Since I was familiar with configuration part.

I felt very happy that I had selected SourceOne center for SAP Training.  Their Training and Coaching was really excellent. Doing each day revision I started gaining confidence to clear my exam. In class test I secured 74% overall score.  In my batch there were only 3 candidates including myself.  My trainer cleared my doubts by giving real examples.  I got full support from my Trainer and moral support from Business Head of SourceOne.

My Preparation for Certification:

Right from day 1 of Class room Training I started preparing for exam simultaneously.  My trainer gave me instructions to go through each topic 5 to 6 times and said not to work much on Practical exercises.  So I followed my Trainer instructions right from day 1. After each class, I used to study daily for 6 hours.  Prepared my notes for TFIN 50 1 & 2 and TFIN 52 in One note book.  During Class room training I studied SAP Material 2 times. I had 10 days gap for Exam Preparations. During these 10 days I read SAP Material 1 time and read my notes thoroughly 10 times. I did not have any difficulty or stress in last movement of preparation.  It went very smooth.  My preparation duration was 30 days in total.

About Certification

During Certification: On April 26th 2013, I had faced all 80 Questions from all 3 SAP Materials (TFIN50 1&2, TFIN52), and 10% from E-Learning. Questions were bit tricky. I read questions twice and after that I tried to answer them.  After answering all 80 questions, I revised them and finally submitted my answers.

Result: I scored 79% in first attempt and I was a topper in my batch at SourceOne as a Fresh Graduate. SourceOne Business Head have made me role model for Fresh Graduates.

Finally my dreams came true. Also my real concept worked out for me. Now I’m waiting for my Dream role with SAP Partner and I’m continuing my SAP IDES Practice of SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5 and SAP ECC6.0 till I get my entry level role in Bangalore.
Three steps for Success – First Go On……….Second Go On……….Third Go On…….Just Do It.

I read the story and my first reaction was - "she still has faith, still committed to pursue this path? despite having spend so much time (2 years!), energy, efforts, and €€€ (few thousands of those!) and without any fruits thus far (she is still on look out for first break if I understand?)

You either have to be crazy person or someone with 101% dedication - commendable!

but as far as I know this is quite a typical story (not something unique). Unable to write certification exam (because you haven't trained from authorized institute) and eventually ending up re-training in authorised institute, just so that you can appear in Certification exam. After having Certified then, still struggling to find that first break in the job market....

I also don't understand what shocked the business heads at SourceOne / ATOS / Genovate looking at the research or missed opportunities? They are in the industry of-course they must be well aware of job market situation (esp. when you are not trained from authorised institute + not SAP certified). You can easily locate 100s of such profile everyday in India . Infact internally they all have long list of 100s of candidates who haven't been places (yes, their own candidates who trained in these "authorised" institutes + Certified).

Anyways good to hear after so much struggle, Pramila is now SAP Certified and thus half-way to fulfil her dreams. Although long wait (very expensive wait IMO) but it did bear some fruits. I wish having Certified now, she will be able to get that first break now and build a successful SAP career.

      Thanks for sharing

      Hi Vibhor,

I have taken training from Local centers (low cost training) and I had started searching for entry level role. Before searching job, I had included details about my SAP IDES Practice session with Start date and End Date. After that I started getting mails from SAP Partners where they had asked Certification in case of Fresh Graduates for FI Roles.  I was not able to apply.

After this I started trying for SAP Authorized training. I have shared a blog on my concept what I did for getting Authorised training at Bangalore. You can go through that.

I'm a Fresh Graduate and I don't have any real time experience. I have done it with my IDES. And it was a plus point for me to become eligible for training and exam. My story is different and I thought of sharing it with every one.  Again I'm ready to wait for SAP Partners Call. During my waiting time, I just read my SAP Materials, SAP Books, and I practice daily in SAP IDES. I don't get any errors in my IDES.

      Thanks for your wishes.

      Hello Pramila,

Thanks for writing back.,., The link did help me.

One last question, When you were facing the interview how important was your qualification and academics in impressing the interviewer?

Can a Graduate from accounts base go ahead with course?
