In order to use STVN SuccessionPlanning / TalentHub for HR & Executives as a standalone solution, the following SAP configuration is required:

  • Enterprise Business Functions
  • Business Partner setup
  • Enterprise Search (TREX)
  • Ranking and Readiness

The following configuration is optional:

  • Nomination and Rejection reasons: successor nominations
  • Nomination and Rejection reasons: Talent Group nominations
  • Career Types and Career Levels
  • Talent Groups

Enterprise Business Functions

The Enterprise Business Functions for Talent Management and Talent Development and Enterprise Search must be activated in order to have access to the IMG customizing activities.  See the document Enterprise Business Functions for Talent Management for more details.

Business Partner setup

Talent Management leverages the Business Partner object (object type BP) and this needs some basic configuration.  For more details see this blog: Business Partner objects in SAP HCM Talent Management

Enterprise Search

The Enterprise Search powered by TREX – is required for the searches in Talent Management, which STVN SuccessionPlanning / TalentHub for HR & Executives leverages.  This needs to be setup before the searches can be used.  See this blog for more details: Setting up NetWeaver Embedded Search (TREX) for SAP HCM Talent Management EhP4, 5 and 6

Ranking and Readiness

The Ranking and Readiness values used when assigning successors to positions or to successor pools are configured in the IMG under path Talent Management and Talent Development > Succession Planning in customizing activities Define Readiness and Define Ranking.

Nomination and Rejection reasons: successor nominations

When nominating an individual as a successor to a position, to a succession pool, or to a Talent Group or rejecting an existing nomination a reason can be optionally selected.  For successor and successor pool nominations and rejections these are configured in the IMG under path Talent Management and Talent Development > Succession Planning in customizing activities Define Reasons for Nomination/Approval and Define Reasons for Rejection.

Nomination and Rejection reasons: Talent Group nominations

For Talent Group nominations and rejections these are configured in the IMG under path Talent Management and Talent Development > Talent Groups in customizing activities Define Reasons for Nomination/Approval and Define Reasons for Rejection.  You can also define reasons to delimit Talent Groups in the IMG in customizing activity Talent Management and Talent Development > Talent Groups > Define Reasons for Delimiting Talent Groups.

Career Types and Career Levels

Career Types and Career Levels are another set of optional values that can be configured in the IMG.  These are configured in Talent Management and Talent Development > Basic Settings > Career Types and Career Levels in the customizing activities Define Career Types and Define Career Levels.

Talent Groups

Although no configuration is required to use Talent Groups, they must be created in the Talent Groups application if you are using a version of STVN SuccessionPlanning / Talent Hub for HR & Executives prior to 4.0 SP1 (from 4.0 SP1 Talent Groups can be created in STVN SuccessionPlanning / Talent Hub for HR & Executives).  If no Portal content is setup for the Talent Management Specialist role then the Talent Groups application (HRTMC_TALENT_GROUPS) can be launched from the backend, either from the SAP Menu or from the Internet Connection Framework (transaction code SICF).
