A few weeks ago Sanjay Poonen held the SAP Mobile Secure at SAPPHIRE NOW Press Conference. SAP announced SAP Mobile Secure at SAPPHIRE NOW 2013. SAP Mobile Secure includes:

(1) Mobile device management with SAP Afaria, now available in the cloud at just $1.11 per device per month. A 30-day free trial is available at www.sapafaria.com.

(2) Secure content management with SAP Mobile Documents

(3) Mobile app security with SAP Mobile App Protection by Mocana, the industry’s leading app-wrapping technology

(4) Telecom expense management with Tangoe, press release

(5) SAP Enterprise Store for simple app distribution

To learn more about the technology included in this announcement, I interviewed Bryan Whitmarsh, Director of Product Management. In the video Experience SAP Mobile Secure Solutions. He outlines that companies have a lot to address when it comes to mobile security. There is Mobile Device Management, Mobile Application Management, Enterprise App Stores, Mobile Content Management and Telecom Expense Management. In this interview all of these topics and more are addressed with tips for your own mobile secure strategies and tactics.

To dive deeper on the SAP Afaria Cloud announcement, I spoke with Britt Womelsdorf, Product Manager for SAP Afaria Cloud, in the Experience Affordable Mobile Device Management in the Cloud interview. We talk about SAP Afaria Cloud product and how this latest SAAS-based mobile device management solution helps companies quickly and easily secure and manage mobile devices.

Tom Raftery of Enterprise Irregulars commented on the release in his SAP Afaria in the Cloud – enterprise functionality, consumer pricing article. Raffery said, “One of the most interesting announcements which came out of SAP’s SapphireNow conference in Orlando last week was the Afaria in the Cloud update. This is a real game-changer (an expression we use very rarely) for a number of reasons. Afaria, if you are not familiar, is SAP’s mobile device management (MDM) product. What does that mean – it means Afaria secures, monitors and manages all types of mobile devices (smartphones, tablet computers, mobile POS devices, etc.).”

Since mobile security goes beyond mobile device management, I spoke with Bryan Whitmarsh again about Experience Secure Mobile Content and Documents. In this chat we discuss how to empower users with mobile access to personal business documents and corporate content, in an easy-to-use, native mobile app.

Lastly, I covered the Experience Mobile Application Protection with SAP and Mocana in a session with Tushar Patel, Director of Product Marketing. We outline how to accelerate mobile initiatives by automating app security and app-wrapping technology enables enterprises to quickly secure existing corporate and third-party applications without having to write any code.
