Introduction

Many of our SAP BI/BW Consultants may not have OSS Id to browse SAP Notes at Market place. The following steps will show you How to download Notes without OSS Id..

Step 1: Goto t-code SNOTE in Dev system, you will get the screen like below

Snote.JPG

Step 2 : Click on Goto –>Download SAP Note

Step 3 : Enter the Note No. and Press Execute

Step 4 : At times, You may get Error in RFC connection. You can ignore this message and try again

Step 5 : Your SAP Note will be downloaded and available under SAP Notes–>New. You can refer the screen shot

These simple steps will make you to get any SAP Notes

Note : This workaround is just to download the Notes in PDF format. BW Developers should not implement the Notes. We should ask BASIS to implement, if necessary.

Nice document Suman ๐Ÿ™‚ . But, jus as a addition, for getting this done, OSS RFC connectivity to SAP via SAP Router should be available. Then, the process you mentioned here is error free. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Suman,

I am sure its definitely a great document. Till now I am thinking that we should have OSS ID to download the docs. But I am clear now.

    Thanks a lot Suman.

Surely the point of SAP’s security model in this instance is exactly to stop people who don’t have an S-number from gaining access to the content?  Circumventing the mechanism like this isn’t really the correct way forward – the correct way forward is to apply for an S-number that will give you access to SAP Marketplace content.

Using the above method means that you are effectively using the authorisation against the RFC link from your SAP system to OSS, which I would suggest should probably only be available to admin/basis team members and not for everyone who can access the system.

Surely if you are an SAP consultant, it is easy to get an S-number?  If you go to this link, you should be able to request a proper S-number.

    Gareth.

      Hi Ryan,

I have got your point of view. FYI, I have OSS Id to browse notes and all. The purpose of this blog to convey a message to all that Notes can be accessed by this way also. This is to download notes and these have to be implemented by BASIS only. This piece of information is very much helpful when we really don’t have S-number.

We can restrict access to SNOTE t-code if we don’t want this to be opened to all BW consultants.

      Regards,

      Suman

As per the authorizations only Tx – SNOTE accessible to consultants and that to at required time only thru FF access. its an information which can possible to View OSS Notes without S user id thru SNOTE.
