Remodeling is a unique concept in BI to manage changes to the structure effectively in an infoprovider, where the data is loaded and running.

We can reach remodeling in two ways
a)     To access InfoProvider remodeling in the Data Warehousing Workbench, choose Administration.  And under that you can access the remodeling panel
b)     User can also access it in the context menu of your InfoProvider in the InfoProvider tree by choosing Additional Functions Remodeling.

Precautions while Remodeling

a)      As a precaution, Make a backup copy of the data before you proceed to use the remodeling concept
b)     Stop any process chains that run periodically that may affect the corresponding InfoProvider. Do not restart these process chains until remodeling is finished.
c)      Check whether there is enough available tablespace on the database.

Characteristics can be remodeled on the following ways
-          Inserting, or replacing characteristics with:
o   Constants
o   Attribute of an InfoObject within the same dimension
o   Value of another InfoObject within the same dimension
o   Customer exit (for user-specific coding).
-          Delete

Key Figures can be remodeled on the following ways
-          Inserting:
o   Constants
o   Customer exit (for user-specific coding).
-          Replacing key figures with:
o   Customer exit (for user-specific coding).
-          Delete

In remodeling, you can use a customer exit to fill added or replaced characteristics and key figures with initial values.
