I'm pleased to introduce several content and functional improvements the ASAP experts have worked on in the past few weeks and we are happy to bring them to ASAP users today. We will also be showcasing most of the key enhancements during the SAP annual conference SAPPHIRE NOW in Orlando this week. But we will also hold web info sessions as part of our SAP Advanced Delivery Management webinar series.

ASAP for Simplified Rapid Deployment Solution Experience

First and the biggest content enhancement is related to recent announcement of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud and Simplified Rapid Deployment Experience. The new version of ASAP 8 for simplified RDS experience offers support for teams deploying Business Suite on HANA or CRM 360 on HANA. The methodology is designed to support deployment to cloud or on premise.

I will outline the major differences in this approach to traditional approach in this section. first one is the ability to rapidly stand-up project demo environment so the project team can start scope validation exercise which replaces traditional blueprinting. During Scope Validation the project team leverages show-and-tell techniques to demonstrate standard RDS functionality to the business user to confirm the functional fit and collect any functional gaps. That is the second major difference. And the third one is the use of agile techniques to realize the identified gaps during the Realization phase while documenting the solution in SAP Solution Manager for seamless transition to solution operations when the project goes live.

This methodology combines multiple acceleration techniques SAP introduced in ASAP earlier into a more comprehensive package that addresses the key areas where projects can realize significant effort savings by re-using best practices and deployment strategies rather than inventing the solution from blank slate.

ASAP for Assemble-to-Order projects

This version of ASAP is very similar to the methodology outlined above, but it is geared to any project using multiple Rapid Deployment Solutions of Engineered Services in their project to realize significant portion of their SAP scope. The methodology is based on the principles introduced in the SAP Advanced Delivery Management approach and provides direct support to project teams using this innovative deployment strategy. It combines the power of Rapid Deployment Solutions with flexibility of design-based approach and speed of Engineered services from SAP and partners.

Many SAP customers use this deployment model to significantly accelerate their solution introduction to the business and leveraged pre-build RDS solutions from continuously growing portfolio that SAP and its ecosystem partners offer. Users of this methodology will find clear guidance for Scope Validation phase that discuss how to structure scope validation workshops, document the delta requirements and realize them in structured way.

New look and feel for the ASAP methodology - iPad users friendly

We heard you loud and clear!. After we have introduced streamlined ASAP 8 in SAP Service Marketplace we received feedback from ASAP users that they want to see more details for each task in the methodology. Today we are pleased to offer you this level of detail in an updated user interface that not only preserves the streamlined nature of ASAP on the web, but also provides the additional detail in deliverable description text.

We have also fine tuned the way we display accelerators as some users advised us that they were easy to miss. You will now find file type icons as visual clues that the text is link to accelerator or web page.

The update works great on any PC or Mac with web browser and also for mobile users with iPad and Safari browser.

We listen to our users and appreciate feedback you were sending us either directly or provided to us on the ASAP community on SCN. Let us know what you think and where we can make your experience with ASAP even better.
