Reorder Sheets – Underexposed but helpful, new features in BI4.1

Today, in our continuing series of new functionality in Analysis edition for OLAP that may not share the spotlight with others, I would like to highlight the ability to reorder sheets in BI4.1.

Problem

Having added content to multiple sheets, it is not possible to reorder the sheets. The problem is further described in this submission on “Idea Place” – https://ideas.sap.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=9AE8C74A-8E80-46B3-B375-6ED0DB92DA2B&idea_id=79140C40-B8B4-4B59-9032-24446CD7803E

Current (BI4.0)

Analysis OLAP allows you to have multiple sheets in your workspace, with each sheet containing up to four crosstabs and charts. However, if you wanted to reorder these sheets the workflow was not obvious and required you to insert a new sheet then copy, paste and delete crosstabs and charts from their current sheet to the new sheet.

New

In BI4.1, sheets can now be reordered with a simple click and drag… exactly as you would expect in a spreadsheet program. In the first image below, Sheet 1 has been selected and dragged between Sheet 2 and Sheet 3.

The result of the drag is that Sheet 1 now appears between Sheet 2 and Sheet 3.

Look out for other posts showcasing what’s new in Analysis edition for OLAP over the coming days.

Regards,

Ian
