Congrats to the HANAVis team for their second placing in the recent Clean and Green Hackathon in Singapore!
This was the second time SAP has been involved with Newton Circus, a local organizer of hackathons based around data sets provide by the government and commercial organizations in Singapore.
Just prior to the event starting, we ran a Hands On HANA workshop to explain how the participants could access the pre-loaded data sets in a HANA instance on Amazon Web Services (AWS), plus take advantage of SAP Visual Intelligence as a tool to explore the data. Simon Connolly also explained in just ten steps how every participant could quickly create their own instance of HANA on AWS, and setup and connect HANA Studio and SAP Visi, even from a Mac.
The event ran from 7pm on Friday night until 2pm on Sunday afternoon, and 21 teams pitched their ideas from 2-3pm, with the final winners being announced soon after. The winning team was ParentPool, suggesting a novel way to coordinate trips for the school run in Singapore, backed up by a smooth looking web site and mobile app.
