BI4.1 What is New in BusinessObjects Analysis OLAP Part 2

Part 1 is here.  Part 2 of this ASUG webcast with Ian McAlpine is shown below.  Note because this discusses future releases things are subject to change and the usual disclaimer applies.

Figure one shows that the Filter by Measure feature is available for non-BW sources, including Top N, bottom N.

Figure 2 shows the expand to hierarchy level.

This feature is already in Analysis for Office.

It allows you to navigate to a specific level of a hierarchy.

Example in Figure 2 shows going from the Country level to the postal level, it will expand to that level and go the other way.

Keep members Analysis will focus on keeping those members – it is faster to keep a certain set of members.

Analysis Office 1.4 is offering waterfall charts and so is Analysis OLAP 4.1 as shown in Figure 5

It changes if you are using hierarchical axes.

Ian said Figure 6, the integration with Design Studio, is one of the biggest features for Analysis OLAP.  It will “mobilize” your Analysis OLAP Workspace.

Figure 7, although not discussed during the webcast, shows the roadmap.   Planned Innovation covers features in BI4.1 and future direction is the next release.

Q:  When is the BI 4.1 going into Ramp-up?

A:  Mid May

Q:  Can these work spaces consumed in Mobile?

A:  BI4.1 has the option to send workspace to design studio and the you can consume in Mobile

Q:  Can you please compare this analyis tool with WebI? will this replace WebI?

A:  This is not replacing Web Intelligence – A-OLAP is for multi dimensional data sources – recommend you search for this on SCN at scn.sap.com

Q:  Custom Grouping – is that available on BW hierarchies (From ECC)? also is there something similar on Analysis for Office Excel?

A:  It is not yet available for BW or Analysis Office

Q:  Does 4.1 Analysis for OLAP or Analysis for Office have support for Universe creates with IDT?

A:  Not yet

Q:  Is AA for OLAP available in BOBJ XI3.1 ?

A:  It is part of the BI platform so no it is not available 3.1
