“Costly processes, loose / no control on expenses, slow process, delay in closing, out-dated business-practice” were some of the voices SAP Team at ERP Center of Excellence of Saudi Arabian Airlines was hearing when it started PARG project. Today Finance Management is calling these processes “very quick”. The name of the project itself is transliterated as “Barq” in Arabic, which means “lightning” – literal translation of “very quick”.
The team of 24 dedicated resources, from business and IT which worked together for a period of 2 months to surprise its end-users with a comprehensive solution, was too excited to share its experiences when interviewed by Quality Assurance section of SAP Center of Excellence.
“PARG, in fact, is just a start; we've to utilize all of the SAP ERP components and have to automate all of the finance processes”, Saeed Algarni – The Finance Team Lead says.
When asked about the finance business processes which were directly impacted with the deployment of PARG solution, the team lead highlighted
- The payments without supporting documents and automatic PR/PO such as unused tickets refund & petty cash etc.
- The payments with supporting documents but lacking automatic PR/PO such as intra-company payments.
- The payments related to assets purchases.
There were quite a few processes covered under the PARG project which are supported by various SAP applications including finance, material management, human capital management and customer relationship management.
The head of ERP Center of Excellence at Saudia IT – Mr. Hatem Bakheet was personally involved in the project and led the activity by providing his leadership skills for Business Process redesign, Solution development, workflow implementation, integrated solution management, change management & training, implementation and roll-out.
