Luxottica: the results are clear.  You may not know the name but if you’re wearing eyewear, whether it’s Oakley or Oliver Peoples, purchased at Sears or Barneys, they were probably made and sold by the Italian eyewear company Luxottica.  Luxottica is one of the world’s largest - if not the largest - premier manufacturer and retailer of numerous brands of eyeglasses and sunglasses.  And, as if that wasn’t enough, the company has recently expanded into managed eye care in the US.

With $7billion in annual revenues, they needed to ensure system performance was optimized and safeguards were put in place for new implementations in order to support the company's growth. The company used SAP MaxAttention support to optimize the performance of their SAP Apparel and Footwear application and successfully deployed the solution across 11 plants in China and Italy.

·      50% performance improvement in key manufacturing functionality, reducing delays and overtime

·      50% improvement in dialog response time of global SAP Apparel and Footwear, leading to a successful launch in 11 plants

·      2 hours daily reduction in run time for critical wholesale batch jobs, allowing the central distribution center to stay open longer

So, the next time you go shopping for your new set of shades, now you will know a little bit more about how SAP helped to get them to you.  SAP helps the world see (and look) better.
