Recently, I was asked to coordinate the afternoon DBA track for the SAP HANA Deep Dive ASUG Pre-Conference Day at the ASUG Annual Conference in Orlando, May 13th, 2013.
Thinking back to 2012, I presented in person at roughly 10 -15 conferences, HANA workshops, and Roadshows. So what is exciting about this one…? In a typical event SAP presents the topics, maybe in cooperation with a partner. In this deep dive you learn not just from some very experienced SAP HANA experts, but you also will see different perspectives. The customer perspective, the partner perspective and SAP perspective are all represented by HDE’s in the DBA track. For example the customer perspective will be represented by an HDE who has been a HANA Architect for the past 2 years at an early HANA adopter and went through multiple go-lives and with multiple scenario’s. The focus will not only include the successes, but also where some of the struggles were and if/how they were overcome.
For my own session I plan to address a SAP HANA Lifecycle Management overview, and specifically address those areas where attendees typically struggle, make mistakes, and have questions. Think of topics like SAP HANA scale out, landscape planning, and upgrades. So I will be presenting about my experiences implementing SAP HANA, but this is a unique opportunity to take advantage of all the expertise and soak up more knowledge and keep on learning myself!
