We are excited to announce that SAP Sybase IQ 16 was released in March 2013 for general availability on the following platforms:

  • Linux x86-64 64-bit
  • Solaris x64 64-bit
  • Windows x64 64-bit

These additional platforms will be released in May 2013 along with service pack SP01:

  • IBM AIX 64-bit
  • HP-UX Itanium 64-bit
  • Linux on Power 64-bit
  • Solaris SPARC 64-bit
  • Solaris UltraSPARC T 64-bit

SAP Sybase IQ 16 boasts a re-engineered column store designed for petabyte scale data analytics, and incorporates the following new features:

  • N-bit dictionary compression
  • Fully parallel bulk loading
  • Tiered indexing for consistent performance of incremental batch loads to large tables
  • Write optimized in-memory delta store for low latency concurrent writes to the same table
  • Data Affinity for "Shared Nothing" MPP (massively parallel processing) query performance in a flexible "Shared Everything" architecture
  • LDAP authentication  and role based security
  • Completely web-based administration and monitoring with Sybase Control Center
  • Client-side load balancing
  • Even more resilient grid architecture
  • Aggressively distributed query processing

Version 16 stands as the biggest release in SAP Sybase IQ history with 2 years of requirements gathering, design, implementation, and customer beta test participation.
