Demo of SAP to SFSF Employee Data Integration (Add-On 1.0)

My colleague Donna Leong-Cohen did a great job of demonstrating what the SAP-standard integration looks like “live” using a well-known Australian actor as the test subject. With her permission, I’m posting the demo here for your enjoyment.  It’s worth noting that what you see here is available from SAP without additional license fees.

I’ll be posting a separate video in the next day or so with a demo I did of the compensation integration.

This is very useful as a primer to the "integration" of core (on-premise) SAP HR and SuccessFactors and demonstrates that -- at least for performance management - you should not need an ABAP developer to build the data feed to SuccessFactors.

What will be more interesting is to see how long before we get "real time" integration.  That may not be so important to customers who have had disperse talent management technologies in the past; but for those of us who have had one fully integrated system with both core and ITM included, the time delay on data updates will be a detractor.

Thanks so much for sharing this Brandon!  hope to see you soon!

      SherryAnne-

You raise a good point about the delay.  The SAP process actually uses a new process to determine what the "deltas" are and send them across.  I have yet to see how this works on a large employee population, although I have a large customer that is about to try this out. Hopefully I can report on the results when I see you at SAPPHIRENOW/ASUG.

It will will also be interesting to see how the integration works in cases where customers adopt part SuccessFactors Talent and part on premise.  I suspect the integration will be a lot harder in those cases as you'll need to figure out a way to share things like competencies between the 2 systems.  I'm sure we'll have customers sharing their experiences soon.

      Hi Brandon,

Thanks for posting this video on SCN. It's great that customers can see the integration "in action" and the simplicity of the demo reflects how simple the process can be. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the recruiting integration piece, which looks highly complex.

      Best regards,

      Luke

Thanks for posting this demo. Apart from PI, what other options are available to send data to SFSF in the cloud.

      Cheers

      Hi Murali,

For the iFlows just PI and SAP HANA Cloud Integration. For building integration you can use any middleware platform, such as the SAP middleware platforms or other solutions like Dell Boomi AtomSphere, Mule ESB.

      Best regards,

      Luke
