Creating a Web Intelligence Document against a SAP ERP Data Source

On Friday, a BI 2013 attendee asked me this question – can you create a Web Intelligence document against an ECC data source.  I had never tried this so I tried it today and thought I would share.

First you must set up an OLAP connection against your ECC system in the CMC.  Then follow the “normal” transient provider steps.  You must be on enhancement package 5 for this to work.

There is no universe involved, simply a BEx query against the ECC transient provider.
