SAP Process Integration 7.0 and above versions. Schedule Sender Communication channels to get start for certain duration of time and poll records and get stop automatically.

Summary:

It happen sometime that the Business Requirement demands records to be processed at a specific time of the day or once in a week, suppose 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd of every month at 9:00 a.m. in the night. It is difficult to do manual intervention to start the channel at that particular time. Also it is difficult to be present to activate the channel in weekends or Holidays, while the Business require the process whatever be the day.

In those cases, there is an option to schedule the channel on the specific dates to get activate and keep it started for a specific duration and then stop.

Introduction:

In some case, like APO and SD, there were requirement for Closing Pipepline of all the business at the end of the day and Sales Position Report for the entire week, once a week. In this type of scenario, it is absolutely effective to schedule the sender channel and get it active for a certain duration to process the messages and then stop.

Prerequisite:

It is applicable whenever the sender communication channel polls record. It is best applicable for sender JDBC adapter and sender File adapter.

Scenario Description and Flow:

  1. When the communication channel is configured in Integration Directory, as well as the Sender Agreement is maintained. After that in RWB à Component Monitoring à Adapter Engine à Communication Channel Monitoring, there is an option: Available Time planning:

In Available Time Planning, the first thing to configure is the frequency: Once / Daily / Weekly / Monthly depending on the business requirement. Then to CREATE to start configuring the schedule.

Once created, need to maintain the Description, Start Time and the Duration.

After the details, the actual communication channel maintained in Integration Directory – Sender Agreement needs to be configured. It needs to be maintained in the Communication Channels tab. Adapter Type along with other necessary details also required to be maintained.

Once these are maintained, the Active box in the Details tab needs to be checked to activate the configurations maintained for the schedule.

To verify, It can be checked in Integration Directory with the adapter in ACTIVE status, but stop in Communication channel monitoring, once the maintained time duration occurs, the channel get automatically started and poll record as per the polling interval maintained and stopped after the duration.
