Advancements in mobile devices, realistic 3D graphics and interactivity technology are revolutionizing the way business is performed by industry-leading organizations across a wide spectrum of vertical markets.  And, according to industry predictions, ongoing innovations in these areas will continue to transform the way humans interact with technology both professionally and personally.

Consider these trends:

• Sales of handheld tablets are forecasted to surpass sales of personal computers in the next five years (BI Intelligence).

• The ultra-sophisticated technology used to create realistic video game graphics is also being used to produce 3D visuals from large quantities of business data.

• Touch-screen technology has made it possible for humans to interact with a screen in a personal and profound way. Today’s users can “interrogate the data” or visually explore a graphic to creatively solve problems.

One area already seeing significant improvement in productivity and efficiency due to the deployment of 3D visual enterprise solutions on mobile devices is the service industry. Some of SAP’s service-related customers have experienced over 40% improvement in field work productivity with this new mobility solution.   Here’s an example of how it works: Service technicians access a digital work order while in the field using a media tablet.  Should he or she be unfamiliar with an installation or repair procedure, the technician accesses a 3D graphic of the fuel pump, for example, zooms into the problem area, and launches a 3D video illustrating the repair process. If there are additional problems, the technician instantly connects to the inventory management system and locates or orders the parts needed for repair.

To see live examples of how 3D visuals deployed on mobile devices are being used within the service industry, visit the SAP 3D Visual Business Experience seminar at the Logistics and SCM 2013 event in Las Vegas. Visual Enterprise Solution Manager, Mark Landrosh, will be demonstrating live examples of virtual content in real-time during the “3D Visual Enterprise in Service” lab taking place on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

See you there!
