Recently, I was searching on the internet, researching technology trends impacting the EC&O industry landscape.   I came across several job postings from construction firms in search of IT experts in mobile architecture. With a quick glance, these job postings reveal a telling reminder among the position requirements: companies need to support multiple mobile OS platforms.

"Seeking thorough knowledge and experience in different mobile platforms (WM, BB, iOS, Android, et al)"

There is not one dominant or default  OS platform that is adopted across the industry (or most any business segment). Yes, there are clear leaders, followers and also-rans. But, in my opinion, companies will always need to support various mobile platforms like Windows, Blackberry (FKA RIM), Apple, Google and others.

Leading construction companies understand the critical importance of investing in a Mobile Application Development Platform (MADP). With this type of mobile technology, Enterprise IT can provide even more value to the business, by reducing complexities, securing information and enabling innovations by extending business processes outside and onto the work sites. OS platforms will change. Business processes will change. New business innovations will be required. Construction firms needs a platform to deploy applications on any device OS now, and support innovation and change in the future.

For more information on (MADP) solutions, here is an excellent analyst review from Gartner.
