So Karsten RUF tweeted this:

This lead me to start reviewing the documentation at the SAP help site.  Specifically I started looking at the best practice guidelines.

First, following the guidelines, I designed the report and included a condition – if quantity sold is greater than or equal 17K, highlight in green and show the up arrow icon.  Then I added the up arrow icon background image to show the green up arrow.

The .GIF file is stored in the images directory of the server.  Below is the conditional formatting rule:

So maybe Karsten is right, the documentation helps.
