I have an HCM Problem! Bring in the Marines!
In 2011, I had the good fortune to travel to travel from Pennsylvania to Paris Island, South Carolina to witness the graduation of Alex, my “surrogate son,” from the United States Marine Core (USMC) Boot Camp. Alex, who grew up in our neighborhood and had spent equally half his life at our house as at his own, was less than 6 months out of high school. And while we had misgivings about giving him up to the great big world so young, we were nothing short of proud at the person our “son” had become.
I was reminded of Alex – of who he is at his core and what he is doing in his miltary career – as we recently fought thru slightly less dangerous conditions at work as a major project approached deadline and I reached out to colleagues both internally and externally for help.
Our United States military training academies receive recruits from all over the country, with all different educational and socio-economic backgrounds, and turn them into the best and the brightest for which this country can be proud. More than individual success statistics, these graduating marines form a unit which marches to a common leader; a unit which must join together to meet the goal, which will support their comrades on their journey together no matter what. Integrity. You can count on your fellow marine.
I have been fortunate to be able to count on my ASUG and SCN “marines” for intelligence, information and solutions. And they are here for you too. Discover #HCMChat @ASUG_HCM on Twitter. These are just some of the many friends I count on in @asug_hcm and @asug_365.
Thank you @ASUG365, @cainsug, @PatriciaMeo, @TweetSilently, @svink, @heckmeg, and @withinterest – Our Fab @ASUGVolunteers – and @tpowlas @mgillet @jeremymasters @stevebogner @watchthewave..and others for the clear insight on SAP’s roadmap for HCM (on-premise is NOT dead); insight into hana for HCM, the User Experience for SAP HCM, what’s happening in mobility for HCM and more.

Hi Sherry,
it is always a pleasure to read your post, and you are always true to life. A real poster-child, keeping the "HUMAN" into the Human Resources systems!
Hope to read you, chat and talk soon again!
Thanks to your "surrogate son" Alex for serving. Best wishes to you both. Thanks also for including the part about "on-premise is NOT dead". Do you have that on your bumper yet? 😉
Robert: you should get it printed, to match the I *heart* infotypes... 🙂
